The small club environment has a special attraction for both live music fan and artist. The Jazz and Roots Club has been fortunate in inspiring a group of Shropshire film professionals to archive the weekly gigs over the past four years. By making the most of digital technology this has evolved from a single camera up to multi-camera shoots with a live vision mix.

TRACTOR Beyond Deeply Vale   Tractor Beyond Deeply Vale

Tractor were one of the first bands to sign to John Peel's legendary Dandelion label in the early seventies. Their first album was generally regarded and still is a classic and originals fetch high prices by collectors. The band reformed in the late 1990s and this dvd is a record of 2 gigs played at The Buttermarket in 2002. Tractor is memorable for the flowing guitar style and vocals of Jim Milne and the extraordinary drumming of Steve Clayton: yes, they were doing it before White Stripes. The dvd also includes a 30 minute compilation of material from the Deeply Vale Festivals, which Tractor helped organise, as well as interviews, promos and an acoustic jam back at the festival site.

KANGAROO MOON Celtic Dreamtime   Kangaroo Moon

This Celtic/Aboriginal band from Australian roots created a funky, psychedelic, heart filling wall of sound when they played at the Jazz and Roots Club in 2002. Although the filming was unplanned and very much a spur of the moment, the 'oneness' between the musicians, audience and crew became apparent in the result, which was a watershed in plans to create DVDs by ents.tv and accelerated the process.
